DIY Butterfly

I am all about the easy crafts that make a child (and mom/dad) happy.

This is great for kiddos ages 2-4.

You will need:

- a paper towel roll or two toilet paper rolls

- paper bag

- paint (ideally two colors)

- fuzzy wires for antennas

- marker to draw the face

Set up your station. I like to cut open a paper bag I got at the grocer store. Use a part of that back to cut out wings. Set up the paper rolls and wings on there and let your kiddos paint them. Once dry tape on the wings to the paper towel roll, draw on a face and tape on those ears. And let the imagination go wild.

How to incorporate language:

1) Label the colors being used

2) Ask what are other animals that fly? or object that fly?

3) Once the butterflies are made work on receptive language and ask your child to land the butterfly in different places in the house (working on spacial concepts) and then have them tell you where to land your butterfly. I.E. Land the butterfly UNDER the table, ON the counter, BEHIND the pot.

4)
